We are pleased and relieved to announce that after a good deal of hard work and preparation Marlow Medical Group started our vaccination programme last week from the Adams Park vaccination site in High Wycombe alongside other local practices.
The vaccination team consisting of your local GPs, Nurses, Pharmacists, Paramedics, Physician Associates, Managers, Social Prescribers and administrators plus volunteer marshalls gave 1136 vaccinations mostly to patients in the priority cohort (over 80) and a small group of frontline healthcare workers.
The site is safe and fully equipped as you would expect with plenty of parking and offered a slick vaccination experience (once we got into the swing!) with very minimal or no waiting. It was our first week and we anticipate that following this experience and having tested the model we will be able to vaccinate many more people (as far as supply of vaccine allows) going forwards in the same time.
We await notice of further vaccine supplies to administer from the Adams Park site but in the meantime will be hoping to cover all our care home residents across Marlow this week. We are, of course, pushing for more vaccine to continue this work and anticipate supplies coming online more easily in the next few weeks. We are ready to meet the challenge.
If we receive another delivery of vaccine this week (w/c 11th January) we will be contacting our registered patients in the published priority group order at short notice to invite you to attend for vaccination.
Please do not worry – we are determined to vaccinate as many of you as we can as quickly as possible and we will be continuing to invite our patient group until it is clear that the job is done. We will proceed as rapidly as vaccine supply allows. As soon as we have a delivery we will continue to vaccinate and do so ongoing.
You may have been contacted by the national NHS by letter to be offered vaccination at one of the mass vaccination sites across the country. If you wish to you can take this offer up but please be assured that we will be inviting you to have your vaccination locally and this is just an alternative. There is more on this in the link from Buckinghamshire CCG below.
Thank you for your patience and ongoing support.
