When to make an appointment at the surgery

If you have consulted your local Pharmacy and found Over The Counter medications and medications only available to buy in Pharmacy’s have not helped your symptoms, please contact us here stating what you have tried so we can arrange an appointment with our in-house Prescribing Pharmacists. If you have seen a GP here in the past who has prescribed you medication for hay fever please request here detailing what medication you were prescribed and when it was last requested.

Treatment - Decongestants

Decongestant nasal sprays and tablets are used to unblock the nose.

Treatment - Antihistamines

Antihistamines help to relieve a runny nose, sneezing, itching and watery eyes.

Hay fever

Hay fever is caused by an allergy to pollen. The symptoms of hay fever are caused when a person has an allergic reaction to pollen. Common hay fever symptoms are:

  • – a runny, itchy and/or blocked nose
  • – sneezing
  • – itchy eyes

Treatment - Steroid nasal sprays

Steroid nasal sprays help to prevent or reduce inflammation in the lining of the nose and some can help to relieve watery eyes.

Treatment - Eye drops

Eye drops can be used to treat itchy or watery eyes.
